Ozark Backyard Skywatchers

It's with some mixed feelings but mainly sorrow that I reluctantly report the demise of the Ozark Backyard Skywatchers.  We've been dormant for several years but I still run into a few of the old members from time to time.  Unfortunately the bank called our former Glorious Leader recently and said they were going to start charging us a fee for our inactive bank account.  Chris and what former officers he could round up decided to close out the account and donate the remaining funds to local charities.  I believe most went to the American Legion Post 270 in Rolla and that most of that went to the purchase of a memorial 'brick' in the new Veterans' Memorial Park which will memorialize OBS for the rest of time, or at least as long as the brick survives!  Next time you are in the park, see if you can find the brick.  I know I'll be looking for it.  Until then, CLEAR SKIES.

Our next Ozark Backyard Skywatchers meeting is scheduled for 7:00 PM on
1/8/08 at John Hudler's house. John will present a movie called Seeing
In The Dark.

Directions: Take Highway 63 approximately 8 miles north of Rolla toward
Jefferson City. Turn left on County Road 530 (Old Maries County Line
Road). John's house is on the right approximately 1/2 mile from Highway
63. There should be several cars parked in front of his house. If you

Tonight's meeting has been cancelled. See you in January.

The next Ozark Backyard Sky Watchers Meeting will be at the Presbyterian
Church on 11 Dec 2007 at 7:00 PM. John Hudler will present a movie
titled Seeing in the Dark. If the weather is hazardous, the meeting will
be cancelled and we will meet again in January 2008.

Annual Astronomy Day will be on May 10, 2008.

The next scheduled meeting of the Ozark Backyard Skywatchers will be
Tuesday December 11, 2007. Topic to be announced. There will be no
meeting in November.
